DECLARATION Resource Centre for Human Rights (CReDO) on the management of public meetings on May 1, 2012 in downtown Chisinau

FACTS:

On 01.05.2012 there were two major meetings with great posts organized by CNSM and Government (Meeting 1) on the one hand and the PC (meeting 2) the other. - CNSM + Government Meeting was held in Square between 10.00 - 16.00, concert was conducted between 10.00-11.30 (segment 1, with the number Maximum of 3000), public speeches executive and union representatives from 11.30-12.30 (segment 2, the maximum number of participants until 5000) still between 12.30- Concert held 16.00 Children (segment 3, maximum number of participants to 200). - PCRM meeting was held in the form of rally in the Square Academy of Sciences between 12.00 - 13.10, and as a march Blvd. Stephen the Great on the trail ASM-Square Theatre Opera and Ballet (without going into square) between the hours of 13.10 - 14.30. The meeting was attended by about 5-6 000 people. - Several representatives of the Association Safeguards protested near the Arc de Triomphe between the hours 12.30-12.50. The protest ended after the intervention of police officers, following amazed to stage approach.

FINDINGS:

Assemblies • Both meetings were held peacefully without major incidents that could disrupt the smooth development of freedom of assembly. • verbal clashes were observed, not was likely to disturb the peaceful conduct of any of the meetings. POLICE ACTIONS •
